Top 10 Reasons This Ranch-Girl-Dad Wishes Summer Would Never End

Our daughters went back to school today. We’re proud of their academic progress and can not wait to hear about what excites them, interests them and challenges them.

Having said that - We wish it was still Summer! … And here are the top reasons why:

10. I don’t take enough breaks in the Fall.
The truck is a great resting spot when your forced to take half an hour to get to your next destination, or to EVERY destination ;)

9. I get too hot when they’re gone.
It’s often over 100° out here. Even though I’ve not been horseback much through July due to an injury, we’re still out in the heat quite a bit. So, when my two helpers haze their crippled ol’ man into the stock tank… it’s not that bad. Not bad at all.

8. I have to go get it myself.
I bet I sent this girl after 9,753 things this summer. She can handle a Kubota RTV like nobody’s business ;)

7. The windshield is just too clean in the Fall.
During the summer I can’t see all those busted spots in the fence that I need to go fix. And if I don’t see ‘em, I don’t have to go fix ‘em, right? Heck, I can barely see the road.

6. Once school starts, it’s too hard to catch coons.
There is feed and hay scattered ALL OVER the barn all summer. Raccoons will just boldly walk right in here around 6pm or so. Now, nothing. Haha!

5. I get less patient.
Have you ever driven to a different pasture to catch horses that don’t want to be caught, trailered them back to your place, saddled these horses and warmed them up for your crew… so that they could ride 5 minutes and then get off and play in the dirt for an hour? It’s a great opportunity to work on my patience. I’m so patient during the summer ;)

4. The young horses get too relaxed.
When school starts, there are no girls in crazy outfits trying to run UNDER the young horses.

3. I said… The young horses get too relaxed.
When school starts, there are no girls in crazy outfits trying to climb OVER the young horses.

2. Building Beef Boxes just isn’t the same.
Our head labeler is in school now, so if you get a box with a crooked label on it… It was me… I’m sorry.

1. Grass Fed Beef announcements have to be scheduled.
If I want our silly, fabulous grass fed beef models, I have to get them to pencil me into their schedule.

This list is just for fun guys. Trust me, our girls aren’t running under (or anywhere near) our un-started horses. Safety is number one around here.
